Alisha Taylor

Alisha is a registered patent attorney with two degrees in chemistry and patent experience in chemistry, med tech, software, to consumer goods and more.

My Approach

I really enjoy working with young companies and entrepreneurs with their patent, trademark, and copyright needs. My main goal is providing the highest quality client service. I want to ensure our clients understand the process and the work-product and love the work I do.

I joined Richards Patent Law because I want to be part of something different. After over five years of working in traditional law firms, I can appreciate with refreshing clarity how our firm is different. I believe Richards Patent Law provides the environment that enables me to produce my best work. We are not a smaller version of a traditional law firm. Instead, Richards Patent Law has created a completely different client service model through which clients receive a better product and we can truly be proud of the work we present.

I also joined Richards Patent Law to work with Patrick. He has created an organization that is not focused on the bottom-line, but on client service and client relationships. His client relationships are unique and I want to be part of that movement.

My Background

Prior to joining Richards Patent Law, I was a patent attorney with Goodwin Proctor in Boston, Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek in Milwaukee, Leydig, Voit and Mayer in Chicago, and most recently Cantor Colburn in Hartford. While a majority of my practice has centered on chemical and biochemical patent prosecution, I have experience with a wide range of technology, including medical devices, semiconducting technology, materials, consumer products, software, and business methods. In addition to my patent prosecution experience, I have drafted freedom to practice opinions, patentability opinions, and non-infringement opinions. I am also experienced in preparing and filing trademark applications.

I earned a JD from The John Marshall Law School, an MS in chemistry from Northwestern University, and a BS in chemistry from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am admitted to practice in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Massachusetts.

I am also a registered patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
